On November 25, 2008,
LatinoJustice filed a complaint with the United States Department of Justice Civil Rights Division against Suffolk County government on behalf of the county's Latino residents for violating their rights to equal protection and fomenting a climate of intimation, fear and hate.
The effect of this inadequate, discriminatory treatment has been to allow crimes against Latinos to flourish.

here does a very good job of detailing Mr. Levy's lead role in a promoting a hostile environment -- leading to numerous attacks on Latinos and culminating in the murder of Marcelo Lucero.
